Nancy S. Charney
Born and raised in the heart of Cleveland, Nancy grew up exploring all this great city has to offer. After graduating high school and trying her hand at a few “careers,” Nancy worked full time and spent her nights and weekends in class in order to obtain her BA in Communications at Baldwin Wallace University.
Nancy began her recruiting career at a large search firm where her hard work and enthusiasm earned her the title “Rookie of the Year.” Wanting to make a difference in how others experienced recruitment services, she founded Charney & Associates in 1994. Her search firm treats candidates, clients and employees in a way that resonates with her values and instincts of integrity, compassion, and commitment. With more than 25 years in the business, she brings a depth of experiences and knowledge one doesn’t acquire overnight.
Nancy is known not only as one of the top recruiters in the profession, but she also has a reputation for being quite the woman about town. She is forever engaging new interests, traveling and exploring new haunts. Basically, she is up for anything!
A Cleveland girl at heart, Nancy continues to give back to the community in many ways. Over the years she’s donated to and spent time with various organizations in the greater Cleveland area including The Cleveland Orchestra, Berea Children’s Home, and Malachi House. She served as Board President of St. Joseph Academy and as Board Chair of Pax et Bonum Communications, a grassroots non-profit organization committed to raising awareness of the plight of the chronically impoverished through film, books, presentations, and ministries such as the Santa Chiara Children’s Center. Nancy continues her work with the Santa Chiara Children’s Center by maintaining their website and disseminating their daily journal via social media.
After completing End of Life Doula Training through the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA), Nancy began volunteering her services at Hospice of the Western Reserve. She also contributes critical funds to the Berea Animal Rescue Fund’s Capital Campaign in honor of the clients and candidates she serves.
Nancy didn’t follow a traditional path… it had several twists and turns, ups and downs, but all of this has led to her becoming a highly skilled professional recruiter (and an honorary psychologist) who combines all of her industry experience with her natural ability to connect with people. She truly cares, really listens to her clients, and takes their interests to heart.
“I’ve been working with Charney & Associates for 15 years. She just knows us, and what we’re looking for so well. We’ve hired 5 new people over the last six months, and 4 of them came through Nancy. She’s my go to for hiring!”
